This look of this compilation - named after the Arthur Russell classic - is inspired by numerous sources...

The entire theme is centered around the visible light spectrum; the wiggly lines on the back are actually graphs of the three cones' responses to the visible wavelengths of light...

An homage to Peter Saville's sleeve for Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures LP, which used a graph of radio waves emitted by a dying star...

The minimal use of color set against a black void is also a reference to the currently-held model that over 95% of the universe is invisible to the human eye...

The visual spectrum itself represents a very small segment of the known electromagnetic spectrum...

Lending a mysterious gravity to the look.
